The Giant Bicycles Group is considered the largest bicycle manufacturer in the world and has always impressed its customers with a wide range of high-quality, innovative bikes and components, both for recreational and professional cycling enthusiasts.
Each of these bikes is backed by countless product details, variants, features and information. With a constantly growing range of products, the requirements to efficiently manage this data and make it available to all internal and external channels at any time are also increasing.
To overcome this challenge, Giant Germany uses our bicycle-specific PIM system VeloPIM. As the heart of the product data landscape, VeloPIM offers a central platform for structured maintenance, administration and distribution of all product information and thus creates the basis for smooth provision of product data across all touchpoints and channels.

Before the introduction of VeloPIM, the product data at Giant Germany was maintained decentrally in various teams and departments. Product management was responsible for bundling all information and compiling it manually. A time-consuming, error-prone process that repeatedly led to inconsistencies.
VeloPIM should create a central, reliable database in which all product data can be maintained in a structured manner and distributed efficiently across various channels. At the same time, the provision of media such as product images, data sheets and price lists for specialist retailers should be significantly simplified.
“Our aim is to offer our specialist retail partners the best possible support. With VeloPIM, we ensure that all product information is available simply, up to date and reliably — for all brands, across all channels. ”
Alexander Gebert
CEO @GIANT Germany
In close cooperation with product management, VeloPIM's internal data schema was tailored exactly to Giant's requirements. All bicycle brands — Giant, Liv and Momentum — as well as the Cadex component brand can now be represented and linked together in a central PIM instance.
For central media management, all product images were imported into VeloPIM and automatically assigned to the respective bike models. Complex manual assignments will also be completely eliminated in the future, which will save the Giant team valuable time.
An integrated CDN (content delivery network) also ensures that all images are automatically provided in the appropriate format and resolution for the respective channels. To do this, each image only needs to be stored once in the highest quality in VeloPIM. This saves the Giant team time, reduces storage requirements and works significantly more efficiently.
BIDEX export
For the standardized provision of product data, a BIDEX export was set up in the VeloPIM ExportCenter. This is where our multi-standard tool MUSTARD 1.0 came for use. Connected directly to VeloPIM, the tool can access the latest data and automatically convert it to the BIDEX format.
The BIDEX data is then available for download in the VeloPIM ExportCenter. Retailers can access the data via a permalink that links to the latest data at any time and therefore always have access to current, structured product data from all Giant brands.
HTML-TO-PRINT
In order to relieve the marketing team of creating sales materials, additional exports for product data sheets and price tags were set up in the ExportCenter. These are based on design templates from the Giant marketing team and are automatically filled with the latest VeloPIM data when exported. The generated PDFs are available for retailers to download for all models and are created daily from the latest data.
In order to provide retailers with the latest product information quickly and reliably, we have developed a separate Giant Media Center. The portal bundles all relevant media and documents — from product images and videos to data sheets and order documents to structured product data — and makes them centrally accessible.
All files are synchronized in real time from VeloPIM, organized into folders and can be downloaded individually or in bulk. Media assets based on exports from the ExportCenter, such as data sheets, price lists or product data, are automatically regenerated every day. This allows retailers to receive up-to-date, consistent information from a reliable source at all times.

With the introduction of VeloPIM, Giant Germany has taken the step from decentralized data silos to a modern, centralized and highly automated product data landscape. Processes that were previously time-consuming, error-prone and manual have been replaced by clear structures, automated workflows and a consistent database. Today, retailers benefit from up-to-date, high-quality product data and media at all times, while internal teams can work significantly more efficiently. VeloPIM thus not only creates transparency and reliability, but also forms the basis for future-oriented, scalable product communication.
With VeloPIM, Giant has a central platform for all product data. All information is maintained in one place and is always available to all teams up to date. This reduces errors, simplifies processes and creates transparency for the entire organization.
Thanks to automated processes and exports, Giant has replaced many manual work steps. As a result, marketing and product teams work significantly more efficiently and all channels are reliably supplied with up-to-date, consistent product information.
Special solutions such as the Media Center are connected directly to VeloPIM and provide information in real time. In this way, Giant ensures that retailers have access to the latest media and product data at all times.
